Measuring window blinds is relatively easy, but bear in mind that there are two ways you can hang blinds. You can either fit your blinds into the window recess or outside of it. One problem that you may encounter is deciding which type of blind to use. You can choose between blackout blinds, pleated blinds, roller blinds, Roman blinds and Vertical blinds, to name just a few.

If you want your roller blinds to hang inside the recess you may want to give some consideration to handles on your windows. The blind will not hang correctly if it is pressed up against a window handle. First, measure the width of the recess. This means putting the tape measure up against one side of the recess wall to the other and jotting down the size. Then do the same for the depth, top to bottom. Venetian blinds and vertical blinds look great when fitted this way.

For the fitting outside the recess, you first have to decide how much overlap you want on all sides; around two inches at least is recommended. Take your tape measure to the top of the recess with your overlap in mind, and drag it to the bottom, again taking the overlap into account and note down the measurement. Do the same for the width, again with the same overlap as for the drop.

If you bear the above in mind when looking for vertical blinds in Keighley, Bradford you will have peace of mind when ordering that your blinds are going to look fabulous.

Blinds make a great choice for any room, but it’s not very practical to take them down and put them in the washer as you might with curtains. So how do you look after your blinds and keep them clean? This question may well depend on what type of blinds you have in your home; pleated blinds, roller blinds and vertical blinds are just a few of the numerous types.

Venetian blinds are easy to maintain if you have a feather duster as you can run it carefully along the slats, cleaning them with ease. An alternative to this is to use an attachment on the vacuum cleaner, or you can purchase cans of compressed air that can blow in dust off your blinds. The same methods may be used on vertical blinds, so long as great care and attention is used in order not to damage the strands. A gentle wipe over with a damp cloth can also help to get rid of grease or dirt.

Pleated blinds can be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner attachment, and it is advisable to stay on top of this by doing this at least once a week to stop dust settling into the pleats. Wiping with a damp cloth may also help to keep them clean, but this can depend upon the type of material your blinds are made from.

When looking for tips on cleaning roller blinds in Keighley, Bradford, bear in mind that you should not saturate the blind, but you may use detergent. One of the easiest ways to clean this type of blind is to carefully wipe it over with a damp cloth that has been soaked in diluted detergent. Get into a routine of wiping over the whole of the surface, from the week after putting up the blind, as this will ensure the blind remains as good as new.

Blinds are an excellent alternative to curtains and they are very versatile. One of the many areas in your home where they fit in well is the kitchen. Their versatility is due to the fact that there being numerous choices. For instance there are pleated blinds, roller blinds, Roman blinds, Venetian blinds and vertical blinds, and all are suitable for any style of kitchen. With this in mind, matching blinds to your décor is essential for that perfect look.

Roller blinds are usually more suited to the smaller kitchen. There is a wide range of styles to choose from, including scalloped edge, sheer blinds and spring blinds. You will, of course, want to ensure that your chosen blind fits in with all aspects of the kitchen. You might choose to purchase roller blinds or venetian blinds in a colour that complements the decor in the room, or you could go for a totally contrasting look, making your blinds a conversation piece. If your room is painted in one colour then patterned roller blinds could stand out well. However, if you have bold patterns on the walls or colourful tiles, then plain pleated blinds or Roman blinds may be more suitable.

When purchasing vertical blinds in Keighley, Bradford, it pays to be aware that vertical blinds can look sublte and stylish in the dining room, especially if you have patio doors. Bold colours will make plain white walls stand out; you may wish to consider a bright red or blue to make a bold statement. Of course, you will also have to ensure that they complement any furniture you have.
